Frequently Asked Questions
Action camera or phone for filming your outings?
An action camera is far better suited to active use: tiny, waterproof and shockproof, it fixes to your helmet or handlebars and offers stabilisation and an immersive wide angle. Your phone, on the other hand, stays fragile, awkward to mount and vulnerable to water.
What resolution should you look for in an action camera?
4K is now the benchmark for sharp, usable footage; some cameras go even higher or offer smooth slow motion. But beyond the numbers, it's the quality of stabilisation that really makes the difference when you're filming on the move.
Is an action camera really waterproof?
Most are water-resistant, often up to several metres directly or via a supplied waterproof housing. Check the stated depth rating if you're filming underwater; for rain and splashes, basic water resistance is more than enough.
How to mount your action camera
Thanks to a wide ecosystem of mounts: helmet, mountain bike handlebars, chest harness, pole or rucksack strap. Each mount offers a different viewing angle; the chest harness and helmet give the most spectacular immersive first-person view.
